Does the World Need Actors, Anyway?
This year’s project, Does the World Need Actors, Anyway?, dives into what it means to be an actor in a world where AI and social media are changing everything. It’s a multidisciplinary exploration of how AI is reshaping the performing arts—bringing both challenges and opportunities, while posing questions about the future of the profession. In today’s complex climate, can traditional methods keep up, or will AI redefine them? This project opens up a conversation on these evolving dynamics and how actors might adapt.
Residency Journey and Collaborations:
📍 Arenys De Mar-seura Artist Residency (June-August): This is where the journey began, as the concept and performance framework for Does the World Need Actors, Anyway? took shape.
📍 Development Phase (September-October): During this phase, the demo and performance were developed in collaboration with director Malin Nyqvist. This work was supported by Svenska Kulturfonden.
📍 Recover Laboratory Residency (October): Worked alongside Inna Huttunen from the Finnish art collective Recover Laboratory. With the support of the TelepART mobility grant, this phase advanced the project’s multidisciplinary approach and artistic exchange.
📍 Current Residency at CYENS – Thinker Maker Space (November-December): Now continuing research on AI in the arts at the Thinker Maker Space of CYENS in Cyprus, focusing on the intersection of art, research, and technology.
Grateful to everyone who’s been part of this journey. Exciting things ahead as we keep exploring the blend of AI, art, and the future of society. Stay tuned!
